I am search of any information on the Imlay family name prior to my ancestors arrival in New Jersey in the late 1600's. Being a 10th generation Imlay in America, I have an extreme desire to know more.

My research concurs with the findings of both Mr. Gould and Ms. Holt. I do have a copy of The Imlay Family book mentioned by Mr. Gould. It was from this book that our family found that the first Imlay in America was Patrick (or Peter) from Scotland. However, my information simply ends there - no matter where I look.

Question to Ms. Holt: Did you by chance uncover any information that I might find helpful in my quest during your recent research? Anything you might provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
