Emison Family Genealogy Forum

I'm delighted to see this site! I've located some information regarding Ash Emison on the web and in the records of Lafayette County, Missouri, where many of his descendants live or lived. I am also a descendant of Ash Emison, who was my great-, great-, great-, great-grandfather. Ash was indeed born in Ireland and emigrated to the colonies. Ash married Mary Mitchell, a Scottish woman. Ash's and Mary's son Benjamin Emison (b. Nov. 18, 1800, Scott County, KY; d. Nov. 18, 1886, Lafayette County, MO) moved to Wellington in Lafayette County, Missouri in 1850, where he resided with his son James Ash Emison. Benjamin Emison's daughter Malissa J. (my great-, great-grandmother, d. 1888 in Lexington, Lafayette County, MO) married William Allen Chanslor (d. 1884 in Lexington, Lafayette County, MO). Malissa Emison Chanslor and William Allen Chanslor had at least 2 sons: Joseph Allen Chanslor (my great-grandfather) and Emison Chanslor (b. Aug. 3, 1861). Joseph Allen Chanslor married Katie Clarke (daughter of Irish immigrants) and they had 8 children, the youngest of whom was my grandmother Nina Marie Chanslor McDonald Bartles (b. 1902, d. 1992). Nina married Thomas McDonald and they had 1 child, my father Thomas Allen McDonald (b. Feb. 13, 1921). My father married Wanda Loretta Leach in 1941, and both are still living. I'm their only child (born Sept. 11, 1952), and I have 2 children, Matthew Allen Nunemaker and Lesley Nunemaker Maiorca. Joseph Allen and Katie Clarke Chanslor had only 2 other grandchildren: Nina Marguerite Hayes Dart (child of Kathleen Ann Chanslor and Earl Hayes, d. 2006) and Joseph Allen Chanslor (son of James Emison Chanslor), who now lives in Minnesota.
