My great-grandfather James K/CAVANAGH emigrated from Birkenhead, Cheshire, England with his brother (name unknown)approx. 1885 - 1891 and rumour has it he 'drowned at sea'. The brother made it to CALIFORNIA as 2 of his descendants visited BIRKENHEAD in recent years. Don't know their names only that one was from San Francisco and the other Los Angeles. James was born in Ireland in 1848 and emigrated to Birkenhead - don't know when. He married Elizabeth SMITH (also born in Ireland)in Birkenhead in 1872 and they had 7 children. If anyone can help me find out more about his death and especially his brother's name , etc. that would be great. I live in Canada where I emigrated to in 1965.
