What was their ethnicity?

What was their religion?

What language did they speak?

Is this your family as found in the 1920 Cambria County Washington Twp. PA census? They are listed as Slavish, which typically means Slovak

Name Age
John Lego 33
Annie Lego 33
Mike Lego 12
Mary Lego 10
John Lego 8
Annie Lego 6
Pete Lego 3
Micke Lego
Mickie 9 months

And again the same family in 1930, Cambria Co. Washington Twp. PA This time it says they are Slovak from Russia.
However they may have been Rusyn, which is a group from what is now Slovakia and western Ukraine, typically they are Byzantine Rite Catholics. This time it states they are Naturalized US Citizens

Name Age
John Lego 43
Annie Lego 43
Michael Lego 22
Mary Lego 19
John Lego 17
Anina Lego 16
Peter Lego 14
Helen Lego 8
Andrew Lego 5

As found in Social Security Death Index records
Name: John Lego Sr.
SSN: 209-01-6130
Last Residence: Pennsylvania
Born: 20 Mar 1886
Died: Apr 1963
State (Year) SSN issued: Pennsylvania (Before 1951

And the WW I Draft Registration record appears to be the same man as above
Name: John Ligu (hard to read)
County: Cambria (Lily)
State: Pennsylvania
Birth Date: 20 Mar 1886

Maybe this is your John?

Name: Jan Ligas
Arrival Date: 29 May 1903
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Hamburg
Place of Origin: Austria
Race: Polish
Ship Name: Patricia
Destination Gallitzan PA (which is Cambria County)

Here is another possibility

Name: Jan Ligas
Arrival Date: 2 Jul 1903
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1885
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Hamburg
Race: Polish
Ship Name: Pennsylvania
Destination Spangler PA

Perhaps the spelling should be KRAMER or KRAMAR... as C in Slavic languages never sounds like hard C, cat, can etc.

As found at Cambria County Genealogy web page marriage records

Index
Page 56-2 1906 KRAMAR, Annie LIGA, John 31-293 License
Vol-Pg

Many LIGAS are found in cemeteries in Cambria county

Sorry for not emailing you direct... but it is easier to simply respond here to your query :)

Robert
