Thank you once again m.w. for your answer re "Aurrell" and for the info re Mary R in the 1910 census showing her immigrating in 1908.

As a matter of interest, her father William Russell died at Airdrie on 7 February 1909.

Our father told us that his mother Elizabeth Moffatt Matthews (nee Russell) b 19 December 1868 Kilsyth, Stirling and her brother William McKenzie Russell b 14 September 1864 Kilsyth both went to Winsted when Elizabeth was 19 ???1887 but of course that could be wrong. (Mary did seem to be young - 17 to be travelling by herself )

m.s. Do you know the port of arrival for Mary in both instances?
