STIREN, Lucie - Suzanne

My grandmother born in Hondelange, Belgium Suzanne-Lucie Stiren d.o.b.13 Dec 1889 came to the US (Escanaba, MI) 1915 according to the 1930 census.

I have been unable to find her arriving in the US. Her sister arrived here (Escanaba as well) but was listed on the ship manifest under a man's name who she wasn't married to at the time but did marry later. Her last name wasn't listed just her first name.

I am thinking - hoping that Lucie as she went by in the US would have had to be on a list in Belgium leaving? I wonder if she traveled with a family or friend and her last name wouldn't have been listed either? Anyone know how they did that?

Is there a place online to see who left Belgium first and last name? Or a way to find out? I'm totally baffled on this.

I know Lucie met a man and married him in Escanaba and she did not travel with him. He was here 10 years before she was. Perhaps I'm trying to find the impossible?

I have looked and looked on Ellis Island for both grandma and her sister with their maiden names, different spellings, nothing shows up.

Frustrated
