He enlisted at Newport Barracks, Campbell Co., KY. 1856. Could not find him on 1850 census. Have written to a couple historical societies to no avail.

There were a lot of McDonalds, Campbells and Hunters in that area at the time. These are the same names found in grt-grandmother's bible. Unfortunately, she did not list birth or death places as my other grt-mother did.

The only thing left for me to do now, I guess, is to write to ALL genealogical, historical societies and libraries in that area, including Louisville. I have found unexpected surprises in small out of the way libraries during researching other ancestors.

I'm still open to more suggestions. All are appreciated.
