The Emerys of Coontoocook, NH (now called Boscawen, NH) are descended from John Emery, Sr. of Newbury, MA through his son Jonathan Emery. Jonathan Emery's 9th son was Edward Emery, born Nov 10,1694. In 1733 Edward Emery and his wife Sarah (Sibley) Emery moved from Newbury, MA to Coontoocook, NH. He was a first settler of that town, being a member of the Committee to locate the town. He had eight children all born between 1720 and 1740, and Josiah Emery born in 1756 was most likely the son of one of them.
