Hello:

I’m trying to figure out who were the parents of the Elizabeth Hooper who married Jacob Furbush. According to the records from the Second Church in Berwick, York, ME found in NEHGR Vol 74, Oct 1920, p252 Jacob Furbush married Elizabeth Hooper on 8 Jan 1778 and they were both from Berwick.

Many individuals and on-line locations indicate that this Elizabeth Hooper was born Jul 1760 in Wells, York, ME to William and Elizabeth (Emery) Hooper. Other sources indicate that the Elizabeth Hooper who was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Emery) Hooper actually married Tristram Heard on 13 Sep 1779. Two of these competing sources are below.

In the book A biographical sketch of eight generations of Hoopers in America : William Hooper, 1635, to Idolene Snow (Hooper) Crosby, 1883 on-line and it shows that the Elizabeth Hooper (BP-13 Sep 1761) who was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Emery) Hooper married Tristram Heard on 13 Sep 1779.

At http://members.tripod.com/~Troutwind/furbish.html I found the Furbish Ancestors of Mary Ann Furbush Mooers of Webster & South Gardiner, Maine which indicates the following:
JACOB FURBISH SR. was christened 10 Nov 1755 at Kittery, York Co., ME., and died 1830/1840 at Lisbon, Androscoggin Co., ME. He married ELIZABETH HOOPER 8 Jan. 1778 at Berwick, York Co., ME. Elizabeth was born Jul. 1760 at Wells, York Co., ME., and died 14 Jan. 1847 at Webster, Androscoggin Co., ME, at the age of 86. She was the daughter of WILLIAM HOOPER and ELIZABETH (_____).
The website says that this information came from Bob Scott and is part of material which will be incorporated and published by Bob under title of "The Descendants of William Furbish/Furbush of Kittery, Maine".

Can anyone help me determine the ancestry of the Elizabeth Hooper who married Jacob Furbush, giving sources for the information? I’d really appreciate the help.

Regards,
Bob
