I've discovered more since my last posting!
My great grandfather John Hembree/Emery (he went by Hembree but his wife went by Emery) was b. 1843 in Knox Co., KY. His children were:
George, b. 1903
Nathan Harrison, b. 1906
Ellen Louis, b. 1907
Adina, b. 1908
Willie, b. 1911
James, b. 1912
Lila, b. 1916
Betty, b. aft 1920
Rebecca, b. ?

John's parents: The mother is unknown, although I did find his family in the 1850 Knox Co., KY census and his father, John b. 1809, was married to Olivy, but they were married less than a year. Their father John Hembree, b. 1809 in possibly SC, TN or KY -- he simply put unknown in the 1850 Knox Co., KY census. Their children:

Amanda R., b. 1830
Catharine, b. 1833
Berry, b. 1835
Martha, b. 1836
Rebecca, b. 1838
Jemima, b. 1841
William, b. 1842
John, b. 1843
Phebe, b. 1846
Ezekiel, b. 1847
James, b. 1848

Their parents were John Hembree, b. ca 1775 in Spartansburg, SC, and Mary Laws, B. 1780 NC. Their children were:

Ezekiel, b. 1802 in SC
James, b. 1818 in TN
Meshack
W.B.
Robert Bluford
