The Martin Luther Emigh I know of has a slightly different birthdate. He was born 4/29/1856 and died 12/26/1936 according to records supplied by Maxwell Parshall. He evidently left the family farm in Emeigh PA at teh age of 19 in 1875and went West, working on he railroad at Grand Island, NE, then going on to Leadville, CO and Butte, MT to mine gold. He was in the Montana St. legislature in 1884-85, representing Missoula County as a Republican and he married Caroline (Lina) Hewitt on 2/18/1889. He was also a Deputy US Marshall and is said to have one time captured two bank robbers by himself. Martin built some flumes, or water ditches, in "the Big Hole" (perhaps Wisdom, MT), and later mined for gold in Gibbonsville, ID, then moved on and farned or ranched between North Fork and Salmon, ID. He and his wife died two weeks apart in Dec., 1836. They are buried with infant Gladys at Gibbonsville. Is this the same person?I am a descendant of his brother, Henry Breth Emigh. They were both sons of John Emigh (1818-1880) and Susannah Breth (1822-1910), who lived in Emeigh, and John's father is supposed to have been named Charles, so I'm very curious about the Charles that shows up in your family tree.1802 would make him 16 at the time of John's birth. Unlikely, but I suppose not impossible. What information do you have on Charles? JE
