Do not necessarily discount what your relatives told you in the past. Other Emch lines from Switzerland may have come to America earlier. It is possible, unless you are a descendant of the same Johannes Emch as I, that your Emch anscetor did come over before 1857. My only knowledge concerns my forefather, but I know other Emchs suposedly followed him to Ohio -- Gerald W. von Kamrath
