The Embury family were originally descended from the Duke of Shomburg, who assisted King William of Orange at the Battle of the Boyne. The Shomburg name was translated into English as "Embury". They left Europe and settled in County Limerick, Ireland with the Palentine emigration. There they remained for a few generations before emigrating to the United States in mid 1700. Being loyal to the British crown, they bacame United Empire Loyalists and fled to Fredericksburt Twp, Ontario after the American Revolution. This was noted from A.F. Embury's Bible my husband GG Grand Father.
I believe my husband is related to the David Embury and Margaret Sleet, I believe they had at least 5 children Edward, John Edward, Andrew, David and Margaret.
My husband is related to Andrew Fraser Embury b.1844 lived in Brussels Ontario which I believe Andrew's father was David S. Embury b. June 23, 1807 maried to Catherine (I don't know the last name) Andrew is one of 8 kids.
According to my husband's grand mother they all went west settling around Brandon, MB except for Andrew.
If anyone knows the exact generation level and the last name of Catherine it would be nice.
I also have some other information.
