There has been some confusion about the first name for the oldest child of George W. and Betsy C. Emberling; the name is unreadable on the 1850 Illinois census. On the same 1860 Denton Co., TX census page with George and Betsy's family and James L. Sparks and his wife Mary B. Emberling with their oldest daughters, Elizabeth and Mary, is the family for Isaac Sparks (22/23 KY), wife Loretta (age 25 born in Ill.), first child Elizabeth (a few months old) and William Sparks (20 KY), brother to James L. and Isaac. The question is: Is Loretta the oldest daughter who could have first married Isaac and then married his brother William after Isaac's early death? Was Loretta widowed twice--Isaac and then William who died in an Union POW camp 1863? Or can anyone find Isaac and Loretta on a 1870 census? There were several Sparks on the 1860 TX census, but only a few were born in KY where James L., Isaac, and William were born according to the 1860 TX census.
