SEARCH FOR GREAT-GRANDFATHER EMANUEL
Carlos Emanuel 1/21/05
My great-grandfather, who signed his name Carlos Emanuel, but could have been Carlo Emmanuelli, came to Ecuador from New York (Italy?) before 1890, as his first child was born that same year to my great-grandmother Rosa Morante of Vinces, Ecuador. According to family tradition my great-grandfather came to Ecuador from New York, accompanied by a brother and a gentleman with the surname Phillips. They were all supposedly in the jewelry business. After having two children in Ecuador, one of them my grandfather, also named Carlos Emanuel, my great-grandfather returned to New York (Italy?) somewhere before WWI. Since then we have no records. We have a picture of him taken in Ecuador in 1890 in which he appears to be a gentleman in his 30's, so he was probably born around 1860 in Italy.
