I have been told that my Elzey lineage has Cherokee in them.
It has been stated that my Great grandmother was half indian. Her name was Myrtle (Elzey) Chronistor Wise. Her father was Richard and her grandfather was Elisha V. Elzey.
They originated from a William Elzey. There once was a Elzey reunion in Adams Co. IN where the family resided.
My line is hard to trace as Elisha may have been married twice as there is a Elzey family in Wells Co. IN who is descended from a Elisha V Elzey.
It is possible that Richard Elzey served in the Civil War
but I have not been able to find the unit he supposedly was in.
Earlier, I had read of an Ezekial Elzey whose family also resided in Adams Co. IN. Nothing was mentioned about being related to Elisha or William though. It seems strange that there were two families of Elzeys and none knowing about the other side.
I don't understand why there is so much secrecy about this family line. I would think that there would be others interested in knowing more about them.
Sorry for the rambling, but I wanted you to know there is native american blood in the line.
