I believe that the Elizabeth Ely that you are referring to is actually Elizabeth Goodpaster, who was first married to George F. Ely. There are couple reasons for this: Alexander and Elizabeth had a daughter, Margaret who married Uriah Malott. Margaret's death certificate lists her mother as Elizabeth Goodpaster. Also, in the 1850 census, Alexander and Elizabeth are listed with presumed children George and Margaret. But George is 4, and so born before Elizabeth married Alex. My suspicion is that George is the son of George F. Ely and his surname is incorrect on the census. He is in the 1860 census with William Ely, who is possibly his grandfather.
Also the Alexander Bolser who married Elizabeth is the son of Jacob Bolser and Margaret Long according to his death certificate and is buried in Edenton Cemetery, Clermont County, OH. Alex and Elizabeth also had a son Jacob born about 1851, and a daughter Barbara born about 1855. These two are living in 1870 with Alex's parents.
I also have a suspicion that Elizabeth is the daughter of John Goodpaster and Barbara, based on the fact that Thomas, son of John and Alfred, son of John, both married Ely girls. Another possible sister is Maria Goodpaster who married John Hitesman, as Jonathan Ely married Elizabeth Hitesman.
I hope this helps.
