Its a great releif to know that we are surely talking about the same Elwoods!I do not disagree with you about the middle initial. Because I have not examined a bonefide copy of the will. The only copies I have seen are the copies that they have at the Westmoreland County Courthouse, in the will book. In those copies, it was in fact a matter of procedure to provide a space on the will for a person's mark. Even if they signed their name. Also regarding the Courthouse records. If you go to the Courthouse you will find his name is in fact listed in the index as "William J. Elwood" in the will book index. Which is the basis of my belief that the name he "went by" is in fact, William J. Elwood. Of course, I would like to think that his name was William J. Elwood, because that is my name. Vane? You bet! heh heh Let me bounce this idea off of ya, Bob. I could go to the courthouse and actually look at the original will. I could provide you with a copy, if you like. Bill Elwood
