Hi Linda,

It has been a real delight meeting you. It has been quite and odessey of research that can be quite confusing, to say the least. I very much look forward to talking with you on sorting all the Williams, Robert's, and Johns out. It is great to know that you have pictures of the gravestones in digital format. I actually use the stones, in my mind, as my primary method of sorting and keeping the second generation Elwoods clearly identifed from the third generation Elwoods. The gravestone of John Elwood you mention in your post, at Saltsburg, is actually the son of our (your) second generation George's son.

I don't have my papers at my fingertips, but the garves at Clarsburg are either decendants of our second generation ancstor William or James. If I recall correctly, they are the graves descendants of James, who is buried not too far from where I live, near Indiana, PA. Its very interesting to me that within our second generation ancestors your George and my Robert married Gillespie sisters. Also, in that same generation Thomas Elwood and James Elwood also married MrGrannahan sisters, Jane and Hannah. Thomas and his wife are buried at Elders Ridge cemetary, and thier gravestones are still standing.

Bill Elwood
