Wow! This is a pleasant surprise. Its nice to meet you. I have been to the Westmoreland County Courthouse and seen the will of William J. Elwood (abt. 1758-1932) He signed his will using the middle initial "J." I have also located the site of his homestead, in what is currently Murraysville. I also believe I have found where George is buried, Kittanning Cemetary. I also think I have found where Josiah is buried, in Blairsville cemetary.I would love to read the history that Elsie wrote. My great great grandfather was John Wylie Elwood, his father was Robert Elwood, and Robert was the son of William J. Elwood. John Wylie married Keziah Kerns and they owned a farm, which I recently visited, near Pine Run. It is a beautiful farm. The owners lent me papers that include the original patent on the property, handwritten stuff circa 1802 through 1900. It is unclear why Keziah would leave all these papers behind after the sale of the farm. But they identify her ancestors very well, all the way back to 1802. Which fills in her ancestry for me. John Wylie was appointed gaurdian of three of George's grandchildren, by the courts. It is a terribly confusing situation to unsnarl, even with the records. I think he may have also raised another relatives children, but I don't recall which one at this time. THanks for the post! WIlliam J. Elwood
