Hi Delma,

I hate to say it... but the only Frank Elwood I could find in our Western PA line was born in 1874. I spent about two hours looking over the entire family line. It appears that he lived his entire life here in Western PA. It is quite ironic that he had children with the following names: William Perry (born 1901), Ansley (born 1903), James (born 1905), Joseph (born 1905) and an unknown daughter born 1910.

I am quite familiar with all of our second generation line. I have been to every one of thier gravesites and I am quite sure that there is not a Frank that I know of in the third generation (approximately 1810-1860). That being said I think its also fair to say that it cannot be ruled out either. I have carefully examined as much as I could get my hands on when it comes to things in print. I was very fortunate to have seen the early gravestones at Poke Run and I can tell you without reservation and complete confidence that not every Elwood of our line had thier name in print. Here is one such example. Although the gravestones are no longer there. There was a Clayton Elwood & wife who is buried in the family plot in the old part of the cemetary, and neither he or his wife are mentioned anywhere. I am positive he was a family member With the same confidence I know there were other Elwoods whose names are also lost forever. Fortunately, my brother is a witness to the existance of Clayton's gravestone. Because when his second son (also named Clayton) was born a long-time friend of my grandmother took him out to Poke Run Cemetary to show him the early Clayton Elwood's grave. It was quite a surprise to my brother and his wife because they had no idea there was a Clayton in our line, they came up with his name on thier own.

Don't give up hope. If my memory serves me right there are other Elwoods who have researched the Oklahoma Elwood lines. Have you looked through all the older messages in this forum? Thats the best I can do.

Sorry I couldn't help more,
Bill Elwood
