Sarah Jessica Parker had no idea she had ELWELLs in her family tree until she appeared on "Who do you think you are?" on TV last year. The genealogist showed her link to this family. (I think you can view that episode on NBC, at least I think it was NBC, online).
It was explained to her that all Elwells go back to Robert, who is the first of the name in this country.

I have a Sarah Elwell, b. 1759 who m. Caleb Brown Jr., b. 1753 in Stephentown, NY. I have had no definitive info on Sarah's parentage, as a lot of the bios of this family say such as; "they had four sons (and name them) and two daughters." Swell, name them, will ya?! Ergo my Sarah Elwell is swinging on the family tree with no solid branches under her.
JSP's Elwell was actually traceable, so that was a boon for her.
