Pole Tavern is located in Salem County, NJ at the junction of US Route 40 and State Route 77. I have never hear it called Polecat Tavern, the name Pole Tavern was given to this village before the Rev War and was a stage coach stop for the Bridgeton to Philadelphia stage. I lived about 10 miles south of it in my childhood and and family members who lived about 2 miles from Pole Tavern for many years.
