My Grandfather was Thomas William Elvidge born 1886 at Driffield.

Most Elvidges seem to have originated from Beverley and Driffield area in Yorkshire.

Newark is not a million miles away from this area.

Who was your Grandfather he may have come from this area. Try getting his Birth Certificate from the Records Office if you can.

Sorry for not being more helpfull.

What you need is finding your family on the 1891 Census. I have a copy of the Census and would gladly search but you need to give me a clue.
