In 1776,in New York, a Peter Etling observed, "We had some grand Tory rides in the city this week...Several of them were handled very roughly, being carried through the streets on rails ... (Sheer and Ranklin, "Rebels and Redcoats," p 146).

I'm interested in the ancestry of the descendants Jan Eltings (1632 Netherlands - 1729 New Platz, NY) and wonder if this Peter might be one?
