15 Aug 1786 - Land survey for John Elswick for 200 acres on Poplar branch of Mill Creek, a branch of Meadow Creek. Survey delivered to George Thompson.

1790 - Men taxed in 1780 Montg. Co. who in 1789 were taxed in the Upper district of Botetourt County - John Elswick, Richard Ratliff, Daniel Simpkins, William Spurlock, James "Thomson" , many others.

Militia company of Capt. Daniel Trigg, 9 Sept 1777 - Included Archibald Thompson, Jonathan Elswick, John Bell, Daniel and Peter Harman, John and Henry Bishop, several Skaggs, many others.

Same captain, March , 1781 - Lt. Israel Lorton, Sgts. John Elswick and Archibald Thompson. Pvts Henry Bishop, Jonathan Elswick, William, Nathan and Richard Ratliff, Pates, Skaggs. William Ratliff waas over age fifty.

1782 - Capt. Israel Lorton's company - Lt. Bird Smith, Sgts Jonathan Elswick, John Bell and Jacob Pate.

Oaths of Allegiance. 1777 included Archibald Thompson, John Bell, Jonathan and John Elswick, William Lawson, Joh, Peter and Daniel Harman, Jacon Lorton, Capt. Daniel Trigg, William Bobbitt (later Capt.), several Goads and allied families, several Skaggs and Pates.
