Hi Robert,

I'm not Patrick, but am also a true Elston, looking for connections to my line from Devon. My grandad was Daniel Elston, born 1880 in Birmingham, UK, to James Elston and Hannah Newbold nee Haliday. James was born 1850 in Exeter, Devon, or possibly Crediton, a few miles from Exeter. If my research so far is correct, then I have James as being the son of George Elston born 1820, Crediton. Again, if information is correct, George is the son of William Elston and Mary. William and his family and George were members of the shoemaker Elstons, and, probably, connected to Frederick Elston who migrated to Canada in 1905.

What year was the Patrick William Elston you are seeking born? There are several Williams in the family.

I believe that I may have already discovered two members of my family, perhaps you are a third. As both William and George had several children, it follows that there must be lots more out there who are connected to them.

Please let me know your findings. Who knows, perhaps we are far distant cousins.

Regards

Sue Ashton (nee Elston)
