I need clarification and I hope you can assist me. I have found information that seems to imply that Simon D. ELSEA, and William McDowell ELSEA, b 01 April 1840, Frederick Co., VA., d. 02 April 1904, at Shibley's Point, Adair CO, MO, married to Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, 19 Nov 1868, are one and the same person. The marriage records in Adair Co indicate he applied for a license under the name of Simon D. Elsea. They had a child named William McDowell Elsea, b. 17 May 1872, along with 6 other children, including my grandfather, Thomas E. Elsea, b 29 Nov 1879. Possibly this is just an error. Please respond. Thanks. Sharon VanMeter, Peoria
