This question is the final one to be answered in the search for the original family of the name in the USA and Canada.
I have a copy report, comprising 14 pages, which was carried out professionally, back in 1958 on behalf of a wealthy US citizen. The report is very thorough though no conclusion is reached other than the fact that the name originated in the UK.
The report, in brief, states that Thomas and Lydia were probably brother and sister and that the first record of them anywhere is in Talbot County on 20th November 1705. It also says that the 'real' name was Aylesbury. I quote here from the report.."It may well be that Thomas and Lydia did not emigrate direct from England, but perhaps an earlier generation left this country and Thomas and his sister may have gone from the West Indies".
Just a brief note to thank all those interested in our family name for their contributions. Keep up the good work.
