this message is a question for mel douglass, who responded to marissa nolasco regarding her family history, or anyone else who can point me in the direction of some information regarding my confusion. i am searching for information regarding the escalon and balibrera families--especially in the character of joaquin escalon y balibrera. however, in my research i have found conflicting records of joaquin's presidential admninistration. some say that he was only president for 35 days in 1834. elsewhere i have read that he was reelected the following year (as i did in your posting, mel. in some places i have seen his last name spelled "escolar," but more frequently i have noted that it is spelled "escolan." never before your posting had i seen joaquin escolar y balibrera reelected in 1835 as joaquin escolan y balibrera. what does this mean? where is your source? could this be a typo? which name is correct? thanks, gina
