In 1635 Richard Elmes left London on the John of London for St Christophers. In 1665 William Elmes was apprenticed in Bristol to 4 yrs in St Christophers. I am in touch with Emile Elmes of St Kitts whose father went to St Kitts from Antigua in the 1940s and who tells me that on an old map of Antigua is a property called Elmes Farm. My husband is descended from the Elmes who went to Ireland in the 1600s but we have a lot of data on the English family who were in Northamptonshire in the 16th century. We are planning to visit St Kitts in January 2002. Margaret Elmes
