I have traced my ancestors to Laurens SC,with the possibility that some were also in Newberry. Am
looking for someone that might have more info or direction for me.

Edmund CRADDOCK (d. abt 1791) and Ann ELMORE (abt 1756-aft 7/1837) married before 1774
probably in Virginia. She was from Prince Edward Co., VA.. the dau. of Archelaus Elmore and Susanna
Morris. Gen. John Archer Elmore was her brother.

Edmund MIGHT be the son of William Craddock (b. 1714)of Amelia Co., VA and his 2nd wife, Hannah
Harper.

Edmund and Ann moved to Laurens SC between 1786-1789.

Known children of Edmund and Ann Elmore Craddock are:

Mary (Polly) Craddock
Ann Craddock
Thomas Elmore Craddock (b. 1781)
John (Jack) Craddock
Judith Craddock (8/1/1787)
Edmund Craddock, Jr. (bef. 6/25/1789)
Archer (Archibald) Craddock (b. 1790)

Edmund Craddock, Sr. died around 1791 in Laurens SC. I have not found a cemetery listing for him.
After his death, Ann married a James SAXON, of Laurens, SC. They had two children, and they moved
to Autauga, AL, where her brother, Gen. John A. Elmore (who was also married to a Saxon) had already
located.

I have found an old post on-line, but have been unable to reach the poster, that Mary Ann (Polly)
Craddock married James C. MITCHELL 3/16/1795 in Amelia Co., VA (I have verified that).. and that
James died in 1802, and Polly and her son, Edmund Harper Mitchell, (b. 1798 in Amelia Co., VA), moved
to Laurens Co., SC, where her mother Ann (Nancy) Elmore Craddock Saxon lived. I believe that this
Edmund Harper Mitchell is found in Newberry Dist. at some point in his life.

Thomas Elmore Craddock is my ggg grandfather. He moved to KY (where his uncle Robert Craddock was
living in Warren Co), and married Hannah COOK in Warren Co., KY in 1808. They are found in Ohio Co.,
KY in 1810, and moved to Madison Co., MO about 1816.

Judith Craddock married William CLARK about 1802. They located in AL.

Edmund Craddock, Jr. is found in court records in Laurens Co SC as late as 1826.

Archer Craddock married in 1818 to Mary Ann SIMPSON(1792-1881). Archer was murdered in Laurens
SC in 1824 by Samuel WHITWORTH. Samuel was found guilty and was hanged for the murder; his
brother, Isaac, was acquitted. Two of Samuel Whitworth's siblings were married to Craddocks...
his sister Susan Whitworth was married to a Sidney Craddock, and his sister Elizabeth was married to a
John Craddock. We have been unable to find the connection of these Craddock's. Would especially like
to find out if the John Craddock was Archer's brother. Mary Ann Simpson Craddock is buried in
Laurens in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery, along with two of her children, Nancy Elmore Craddock, who
never married, and William Archer Craddock, who died in the Civil War.

If there is anyone out there who recognizes any of these names, or has access to records, etc. that they
might be able to glean anymore info for me, or has any tips for other places for me to search, I'd surely
appreciate hearing from you!
