Which time period are you referring to for Wm. Riley ELMORE? In 1850 he would have been 17 and they often lived with and hired out to other relatives or neighbors. In 1860
he was already married 5 years. His children
were born in Bond Co, IL or Fayette Co, IL.
I believe. Maybe they used initials W. R. in census or used middle name Riley. Have you checked those? Even spelling of surname was sometimes put ELMER.
He is NOT my direct line but here is what I know on him.

Cemetery. He is in Vol.IX #3 pg 38 Fayette Facts Quarterly of Fayette Co, IL Genealogical Society Evans Library Vandalia, Fayette Co, IL;
Thomas ELAM and Elizabeth ELAM are my two different lines of ELAM. They were my Sabra Charlotte ELAM's parents. Sabra was a sister to Louvincia ELAM.
