My GGrandfather Peter Elmore (b:1829) had a brother named John Elmore who I have never been able to find any info on. What caught my attention is that you said your grandmother went to Ford County, Kansas to give birth. Peter Elmore died in Spearville, Ford County, Kansas in 1911. Although your dates would indicate that your John Elmore is not that brother, he could be the son of that brother. I am hoping there is a connection.
