Emeline Hall Elmore, d. 1932 Lincoln Nebraska
St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, Dec. 29, 1932, Obituary, Word of the death of Mrs. Emeline Hall Elmore, daughter of Wesley and Laura Hall and sister of the late Charlotte Hall Inman, who died at her home in Lincoln Nebr. Dec. 7, 1932, aged 86 years.
Mrs. Elmore was born at the old homestead west of St. Charles now known as Twin Pines, belonging to E.J. Baker. She was married to Jerome H. Elmore, the son of another early pioneer of St. Charles township and during their early married life resided on the Elmore farm, on the west side river road just south of Fayvile. In 1881 they sold the farm and moved to Talmadge, Nebr. where they farmed for fourteen years and then moved to Lincoln.
Mrs. Elmore is survived by her husband, aged 93 years and three children; Dr. Clarence E.Elmore of Liberty, Mo., Rev.Wilbur T. Elmore of Wayne, Pa., and Mrs. Cora Bancroft of Yonkers, N.Y. A brother, David Hall of LaFox is the only survivor of a family of eleven children of which Mrs. Elmore was one.
The Elmore family came to St. Charles township in 1836. The Hall family came in 1839. Albert L. Hall of Oak Park, a nephew of Mrs. Elmore, was formerly owner of the St. Charles Chronicle.
Many of the older generation will remember these families who brought to their pioneer homes, the industry, honestly and sturdiness of character which conquered the difficulties and privations to be met in planting new homes where nature offers the only provision and man must toil up a long and difficult road to reap.
