  of 1951

Here is a deed that has great clues in it. specifically for the Elmore line. It appears to be a transaction of men doing business for their wives, most of whom are Elmore women. I bet further investigation proves all are married to Elmore women.

My interest in this stems from my brickwall: who are the parents of Charity Elmore Allison, wife of William Allison, Jr. Married: 22 Nov 1793 Wilkes Co NC.

Known or gathered info about the folks above:

William Allison married Charity Elmore in Wilkes Co NC in 1793 - Wilkes Marriage Records.
William Profitt married Elizabeth (Elmore) 10 Jan 1776 per a pension application from Wm Proffitt. Someone has posted Elizabeth's parents as Thomas Elmore and Rhoda Thorton. At the bottom on the pension application is a statement saying: "Sarah Tugmore, (Gagmore?) gave an affidavit stating that she witnessed the marriage of William Proffitt to Elizabeth Elmore in 1776, that they were married by James Fletcher, Esqr."
James Tugman married Sarah Elmore in Wilkes Co NC per Wilkes Co marriage records, 28 Sep 1799.
Jemina (spelled as Jimima) and Keziah Elmore are list in the will of a Thomas Elmore of Wilkes Co NC, along with the wife of Thomas, Abigail. Will was filed at the April 1810 Court Term. Also mentioned is a Rachel Elmore, another daughter, but don't know what happened to her.
1778 in Wilkes Co NC, both George and Thomas Elmore bought land on the South fork of Lewis Fork, adjacent to each other. It looks like George may have owned land there before Thomas, a conjecture from the deed records.
So, can anyone add pieces to the puzzle?
I bet William Ragan (spelling?) is also married to an Elmore girl !
