The Texas County Heritage book list her this way. George W. "Rory" Elmore (b.1818 Tn - d. 1893 Texas County) was a blacksmith and wagon maker. He married Delitha Emaline Step (1830-1889) whose mother or father was a descendant of Tennessee Indians. My grandmother in her writings list her as Delitha Emaline Stepp Henderson. Also in my grandmothers writings there is a line that her great grandparent were full blood indian. I have no documentation of that. A Harold Lane Elmore says In 1847 George married Delitha Emaline Stepp and they moved to Bardley County TN where their daughter Matilda Emaline was born in 1848. There were three Stepp families in Monroe County Tn in 1830 and Delitha could have been the daughter of either Akilles (sic) Stepp or Thomas Stepp as both families had young daughters in 1830. Her mother may have been a Henderson as this family was well represented in Monroe County in 1830 and several moved to Bradley County as soon as the indians were removed in 1838. This is all I have right now. Hope this helps you find more. If you do I would love to hear of it. I do have a picture of her. She does have very high broad cheek bones. My grandfather really carries the shape of her eyes. Kenille Notify Administrator about this message?
