Yes, I also contacted the Suffolk Family History Society but haven't heard anything from them for ages.
It's definitely a tad difficult for me to get up to Suffolk (from 13,000mls away) although I was in England 2 weeks ago for a funeral (my 'Aunt' died -actually my 2nd cousin, wife of the only son of my Grandad's younger brother i.e. my namesake L.A. Elmer).
I was only over for 1 week and spent 3-4 days in Hampshire so never had time to get up to Suffolk to visit Gt Grandad and all my other ancestors who are buried in a row in the churchyard of All Saint's in Great Ashfield.
Also never had time to meet up with a perhaps distant rellie who lives in Kent that I've met and only ever spoken to over the Internet. She and I beleive we share that same Thomas Elmer, illegitimate son of Ann back in the 18th century however she's not quite yet found the proof that he is 'her' v similar Thomas of the same general age and location.
If you'd like to email me directly please do so to email@example.com as I'd appreciate us keeping in contact.
I've contacted many Elmers in the UK so far with no certain links found to 'my' Elmer family line, however some of them may be of interest to you, so I'll dig thru my contacts folder(s) and give you some email addresses to perhaps sound out for a connection.
