I just wanted to post this to let other people know how important it is to be persistant in doing geneology. I have been back to the Westmoreland County Courhouse and since learned that A.P. Elwood did not really swindle anyone. It is astonishing to learn how land holdings and estates are distributed over the years. From this I have learned to never mix word of mouth history with written history. Too many things are possible.
