My ggrandfather was named Ellsworth Miller, born in 1861 in Annsville, Onieda Co., NY. We are descended from the Millard/Millerd/Miller family which settled in Rehoboth, MA ca 1637. Traditionally, the surname of a family marrying a Millard/Miller was given as the first name to the son(often, but not always, the first-born son).
My branch of the Millard family moved from MA to CT and then, around the time of the Revolutionary War, to the Onieda Co., NY area. I am looking for the connection between my ggrandfather and the Ellsworth family. His parents were Horace N. Miller and Mary/Abigail Hanney. Horace was born and died in the Onieda area, but his father, Luke Miller, was born ca 1800 in CT.
The GEDCOM of your Ellsworth line might help.
Thanks. Pat Griffiths
