Hi Kent, I just returned from New York state, where George is buried in the same plot as Col. Elmer Ellsworth. It says born 1818 on the stone, and he died in 1864. I am wondering if he died in the Civil War. So we could try to research that...I do have a clue to a battle in which a George Ellsworth of his age had a "severe head injury"...I met a man who knew 2 of the names of the siblings of Ephraim, who would have then been the siblings of George W...and that can be researched too. Hope you are there...you posted this 3 yrs ago. I am a cousin of Col. Elmer Ellsworth, and I have extensive charts on the family. However, the siblings of Ephraim were left out...Let's keep in touch and maybe we'll solve this...Patty Tinsley Email me: pattyskitties@yahoo.com (I have not yet read Norma's info).
