Hi Mark, I'm pretty new at this too. I just started in August. I started by talking to family members & writing down everybody they knew. I would recommend if you haven't done this already-to buy the family tree maker. It will give you a subscription to this site and you'll have a easier time keeping all your information straight. You might get lucky and find someone else has already done a family tree on your family. Next I would suggest that you start ordering the death certificate of the oldest family member that you have information on-like your great grandfather. Once you get that order his birth certificate which will tell you his parents name and the year they were born & where they were born. It might also list if there are other kids or what occupation your relative did. You might order their obit which will might tell you about other relatives. My husband & I were able to find an uncle that we didn't know about. I would also start searching the census reports-you'll find out a lot that way. And defintely keep watching this site..that's how I was able to find my husband's aunt!Between her and my husbands 2nd cousin (that I found on this site through the family tree maker)they were able to help me fill in the gaps. They both were great and gave us copies of some pictures that they had. Hope this helps! Pam Ellsworth Do you know if any of your Ellsworths were born in Vermont? If so, let me know and I'll be glad to share the information I have. Good luck! Notify Administrator about this message?
