In the search for old posts on this forum on Watson Ellison, I have now refreshed my memory somewhat from a few years back when I began looking for my Ellisons and got sidetracked til recently..
I see where it is stated that a Watson Ellison who was born in
1742 (where, VA?) and died in 1826 had a son named Robert, born in 1783 (Laurens, SC?) and died in 1871.
Is this the Watson that is listed in 1820 Walton GA census?
And is it his bible record stating that his son Robert had a son named Watson that was born in GA?
Is there a date given in the bible of that birth in GA?
And is there an image of that bible record online somewhere?
And is the Robert (1783-1871) listed in 1820 GA the son of the Watson who is also listed there in same census?
I see where it is stated that according to 2 bible records (whose?)that Philo B. Ellison was son of Watson Ellison and Elizabeth Stone.
And according to the above, the Watson Ellison with Elizabeth Stone was born in 1809 in GA..And Elizabeth was born in SC..
There is confusion in my mind because according to the 1880 census of Cumberland KY, Philo Ellison shows his father was born in SC..not GA..
And that his mother was born in NC..not SC..
2 doors down from Philo in that census is a William Ellison, and HIS father was born SC and mother NC..
Which naturally leads me to believe that Philo and William, being close in age and being 2 houses away from each other, were brothers..
Later, in 1900 when Philo is in TX, then the census says he AND both his mother and father were born in GA, so I tend to believe he had it right in 1880..20 yrs is a long time, and who knows who gave the information to the census taker in 1900..
Now I have another question for anyone who knows and is willing to be patient with me if I have been told before, because I do not recall ever seeing or hearing anything definitive about it..It being:
How was it determined that the Robert Ellison of Laurens, SC in 1810 was the Robert who was son of Watson (1742-1826)?
