ELIZABETH “LIZZIE” ELLISON, dau of Jacob L. Ellison and Martha W. Martindale

I am looking for information on ELIZABETH “LIZZIE” ELLISON, born March 1870 in Texas, daughter of Jacob Lewis Ellison and Martha “Mattie” Wright Martindale, and wife of Samuel Ross SCOTT.

Jacob was born Abt. 1838 in Mississippi and Mattie was born Abt. 1845 in Mississippi according to the 1910 Census. In 1910 they resided in Caldwell Co., Texas.

Elizabeth Ellison was married to Samuel Ross Scott. They had two children, an infant the was born and died in 1907 and is buried in Tuttle Cemetery, near Staples, Guadalupe Co., Texas. The second child was listed on the 1910 Census as Sammie Scott, born Abt. 1908, most likely in Staples, Guadalupe Co., Texas.

In the 1910 Census, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Scott shown as age 40, and her son Sammie Scott, shown as age 2, are living in Lizzie’s father's house in Caldwell Co., Texas, along with a son of Jacob’s, Gail T. Ellison, age 29. Gail’s name is really Gail B. Ellison.

I believe that Lizzie may have died in Bexar Co., Texas, in April 1954 and is buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

I am also looking for any information on the son, Sammie Scott, or his descendants. Sammie's full name most likely is Samuel Ross Scott, Jr., but I have no proof of that.

Samuel Ross Scott was a younger brother to my great-grandmother, Ella Eva Scott, who married Allen Miller Dugger. Samuel Ross Scott died on 28 December 1907 in Caldwell Co., Texas, as a result of a buggy accident. The family story is that his leg was split open when the buggy overturned and the doctor who treated him up was drunk and did not clean the wound before he sewed his leg up. Gangrene set in and he died. There was even a song sung by the locals in that area about the incident.

Any help you may give me or information you are willing to share will be much appreciated. I will gladly share what I have on the family.
Thanks.
Ernest Young
