Hi Kaye --

I saw your queries on the Warren GenForum, also; then looked up what else you posted. From this, I see you are just more or less getting started. Especially, from your posts on both this GenForum and the Warren GenForum, I can see that there was no real communication in your family about its background, and so, names just two and three generation back have been lost!

This is a tough spot to be in, unless you know of some much older relative, still living and still lucid, who might be able to give you some more solid background or, at least, some decent clues you can use as starting pointers. Without any of this information, sadly, noone here on this board can help you. You may even have relatives here watching this board, but they also can't help you without knowig at least a piece of your background.

If you can't provide any further information than you already have, I suggest that you go to the nearest genealogy society and see if you can hire someone you trust with your personal information to do the initial research that will get you started in the right direction.

According to the Federal Census Indexes, in 1900, 925 Ellisons lived throughout all of Ohio. In 1910, it was 984, in 1920, it was 1,086, and in 1930 (the latest publicly available Federal Census), it was 770. So, you can see how important it would be to be able to provide the first names of our Great-Grandparent Ellisons, in order to be able to narrow the list down possibly to the EXACT people you are searching for.

Since you are looking for Warrens in Kentucky, there is a good possibility you are looking for Ohio Ellisons somewhere in counties along or near the Ohio River. But, without names or any other further information, this is STILL a monumental task.

I am sorry for your predicament, and VERY sorry that we can't help you as things now stand -- I certainly wish you the best of luck in your search. We, here in the Genealogy.com GenForums, await any further information you might come upon in the future in order to better aid you -- each of us here has been helped by someone on these boards in the past.

Sinecerely,

Mike Collier
