Hi, just thought I would give you a heads up as this is my family crest, and have known the meaning for some time, as my younger brother and I have just done a very extensive family tree dating back to the 1780's.... non haec sine numine actually means....not this without the daity ...(not this without the divinity/beleif/god).Ellis family is also a sept of The MacPherson family and are able to use thier crest also which dates back even further, the MacPherson crest is of a cat, and meaning "touch not the cat but with a glove"
