Notes for RICHARD ELLIS:
According to Robert (Bob) Ellis,
Richard ( Florence's (Ellen) brother) took in and raised the twins (Fred & Florence) after she died.
He says he remembers when he was 3 years old, Richard dieing and going to his funeral . He said
" he remember going to his funeral and it was in Woodcock, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, where
he was buried.
There is a Tombstone with Richard and his wife inscribed on it at the Waterford Cemetery, Waterford,
Erie County, Pa. Richard date of birth inscribed says 1839, (census have him born 1838) There is no
death date inscribed on Tombstone. ( which was not uncommon for them to go back and put date of death in.)
I told uncle Bob I found him at Waterford Cemetery. He insis he is not there
Haven't found anything either way yet. I am still searching.

could it be or not, Maybe just wishful thinking.
Found in the 1880 census a Ellen Ells . 27 years old and still single.
father name was Richard Ellis . This is the name I was told the twins
went to live with when she died... There is also a george Ellis in the
census which is another name I was told of maybe not as brother but
sence they didn't talk about it maybe what little was said could still
be connected in a different way.. Food for thought I will research this
angle. Maybe I will have better luck...

This Census was before Ellen was born but it shows that this
is the same family as Jane is on it ......

Some one looked up on the 1910 census for Erie County for me and found
that Flornce (Ellen daughter) was living with her uncle. So she died before
1910 figured that.

Notes for GEORGE ?:
According to Fred Richard Ellis Social Security Application, He has his father
down as unknown.. According to his obituary notice and Bob and Edna
(two of Freds Children) The fathers name was George who was a traveling
salesman that disappeared before the twins were born.
Not sure how to find out who is is if this is the case... Maybe Florence family
if I can connect will know the story to all of this. But then she might be like fred
and would not speak of him..

Fred Ellis
Fred R. Ellis, 90, of RD1, McKean (McLane), died Sunday at home.
He was born in Washington Township on May 16, 1886, son of the late George and Florence Ellis.
He had lived and farmed in Erie County most of his life.
He was employed by the Pennsylvania highway department from 1952 until 1958 when he retired.
He was a life member of the Draketown Christian Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert W. Ellis of McLane, a daughter, Mrs Julius (Edna) Mihalovic of Erie, 19
grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. He was Preceded in death
by his wife, Alpha Abbott Ellis, a son Joseph Ellis, and a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Roan.
Friends may call at the Harry D. Glunt, Funeral Home, Edinboro, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
and are invited to services Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. William Sandel will officiate.
Interment will be in McLane Cemetery.

I am not able to get Birth record with they were even reported as the birth records
were distroyed in a Courthouse Fire.
The court house only has birth record from 1888 through 1905. I was hoping to find
out who the twins father was.
I could not check marriage as Fred and Alpha were married in New York.

Mrs. Alpha F. Ellis, aged 82 years, died at her home in McLane, Saturday, November 25,1967
after an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband Fred R. Ellis of McLane; 3 sons, Lester Ellis,
address unknown, Joseph R. Ellis of Lowville and Robert Ellis of McLane;
2 daughters, Mrs. Ellen Roan and Mrs. Julius (Edna) Mihalovic, both of Edinboro;
1 sister, Mrs. Dorothy Wagner of North East; 2 brothers, Virgil Abbott of Erie and
Orson Abbott of Waterford; 19 grandchildren and 30 great- grandchildren also survive.
Friends will be received at the I.k. Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street,
Edinboro, on Sunday from 7 to 9p.m.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
Alpha was ill with scarlet fever when she was a young girl. She lost her
hair and it never grew back, and this made it so she wore a wig for the
rest of her life.
This was told by her son Robert William Ellis.

50th Wedding Anniversary of Fred and Alpha Ellis in 1955.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Ellis, RD#1 McKean will observe their 50th wedding anniversary
with an open house celebration Sunday December 4 from 2-4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m. at
the home of their son Robert Ellis at McLane. The couple was married November 30, 1905.
They have 5 children, Lester Ellis, Reid Ellis, Robert Ellis, Mrs. Ellen Roan, and
Mrs. Edna Mihalovic, 19 Grandchildren & 5 great- granchildren.
In 1976, Alpha Florence and Fred Richard had 19 grandchildren,
52 great-grandchildren and 6 great -great- grandchildren.

Due to her twin Fred Richard Ellis was married in 1905. He was out of the home.

Robert Ellis told me he remebers visiting her and her family in Springfield, Erie
County, Pennsylvania. But he could not remeber who she was married to.
Was told by him and his sister Edna that they thought it was Richards or Richardson
but haven't had no luck with look ups.
I know she was real as I have a copy of a picture of the twins as toddlers. Original is in
the possesion of Uncle Bob Ellis.

I checked the Erie Court house in hopes of finding something on Florence with no luck.
Birth record was distroyed in Court house fire and as far as marriage I had no luck in finding her.
There was no Florence Ellis married up to 1939.
