Horace & Pliny P. ELLIS (Civil War - 7th WI)
Researching men of the 7th Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War.
PLINY POWERS ELLIS served in Co. A of the 7th WI (1861-1865)from Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co., WI. His nephew, HORACE A. ELLIS served in the same Company. HORACE was detached to serve with Battery-B, 4th US Artillery (the "forgotten unit" of the Iron Brigade. While detached to Battery B, HORACE received the MEDAL OF HONOR for his actions on 8/21/1864 at Weldon Railroad, VA. (Capture of flag of 16th MS Infantry).
Any information on ancestry - descendants or relatives living today would be greatly appreciated.
I have a website originally dedicated to the men of the 7th WI - it however, is slowly growing to include all of the men of the Iron Brigade.
