According to my info, they left from Durham (ME?,NH?) and proceeded to Canton, Ohio, left from there to go to Indiana. Sort of a routine pattern for migration in those days. I'll be sending you and email with the dates for the Ellis's.. no need to put all that here.

PS John was the son of David Ellis and his wife Ruth.. Ruth died 10 Jan 1773 in Abingdon, MA. David remarried Anna Jenkins and had 2 daughters, Anna (aka Nancy) and Ruth. Ruth died 1802, Nancy married David Gurney, records in Abingdon, but exact location of marriage is unknown. Do you have a David Gurney in the Census records?
Another clue: David Ellis died 28 Aug 1778 (Abingdon) and his widow Anna remarried on 10 Apr 1793 to Jacob Ford.
