Levin Ellis
Martha Louisiana Moore Sherman was daughter of David Brady Mitchell Moore and Elmyra Elizabeth Davis, b. 1817 daughter of Jonathan Davis and Mary Elizabeth Waller, who was the aughter of James Waller and Elizabeth Ellis, who was the aughter of Levin Ellis and wife Elizabeth, known as "Ibby".All of these families ha settled in Hancock County after the Revoluntion.Levin Ellis, great, great, grandfather of Louisiana Moore Sherman served
in the Rev.He originally came from Maryland, lived in Virginia during the RW an settled in Hancock Co.Georgia,
abt 1800, where he received a land grant for his services. He is said to have gone there with a Company known as the "Chespeakers".It was also sai of Levin Ellis that: "He was a mon of means, for in his will he left his wife"Ibby" a certain plantaion" out of my several plantations, he also left negro slaves, an "the little red truck with its contents an effects."
